CLOUDBASE
Our Music: Where Electronica and Organic Sound Combine

Cloudbase is a four-piece band that blends cutting-edge electronica with live instruments, creating an immersive indie/alternative musical experience that’s both futuristic and soulful. Since our start in 2016, we’ve been on a mission to push boundaries and craft something truly unique. Our sound is rooted in deep, emotional lyrics and intricate electronic beats, layered with live guitar and percussion for that organic edge. The result? A sonic journey that resonates across genres.

With the release of our latest album, Navajo, we’re diving even deeper. This album is a bold step forward, filled with lush, evolving soundscapes that invite you to feel as much as they make you move. Navajo marks a new chapter for Cloudbase, as we explore fresh sounds and bring renewed energy to our live shows.

Our History

In late 2016, a chance comment during a car ride home sparked the beginning of a musical collaboration between Andy Foster and Ken Walters. This initial spark led to their first studio session, marking the inception of a new venture. With a vision of inclusivity and creative collaboration, singer/songwriter Nikki Wilson soon joined, adding her soulful voice and lyrical depth. By mid-2017, percussionist Paul Smith joined the mix, and though the group didn’t yet have a name, their sound was beginning to take shape.

As the months went on, the team poured their energy into creating and refining new tracks. Andy and Ken crafted melodies, Nikki worked on lyrics and vocals, and their combined efforts resulted in the formation of Cloudbase—a project driven by their mutual passion for music and expression. In 2018, Cloudbase released their first single, "Comfort in the Pain," followed by a second, "You Wanna Be Free." Though the latter was later withdrawn, these tracks laid the groundwork for what would become their debut album. After eighteen months of dedicated studio work, 'Hammerhead' was released in January 2020.

As Cloudbase grew, so did its lineup. Andy returned to contribute his talents on keyboards and bass, and Carl Peake, an electronic and organic drummer, joined soon after. However, just as Cloudbase found its footing, COVID-19 hit, slowing progress on their sophomore album as the team worked to refine their evolving sound. By late 2022, they were ready to relaunch with 'Hammerhead', as well as a new album and live performances.

With a period of transition sparked by Nikki’s relocation, Sue Cuthbert and James Merrix stepped in, bringing fresh energy to the group. Today, Cloudbase’s live lineup consists of Sue, Andy, Ken, and James, each dedicated to pushing their music to new heights.
"CLOUDBASE – it's deep soulful lyrics interwoven with complex electronica and organic guitar.
A unique and futuristic sound!"
